Salma the Syrian Chef

Beautiful story of daughter and mom relationship. Written by Danny Ramadan and illustrated by Anna Bron.

Salma felt her mom was worried about new job, life in new country – Vancouver, Canada and her father in Syria (their home country). She was looking for a lot of ways to cheer up her mom and was discussing the same with her friends in welcome center. Finally she decided to cook her mom’s favorite food ‘foul shami’.

She had her challenges to find ingredients and cooking method and finally did she succeed cooking the food was the rest of story. My daughter enjoyed reading this book so much and she too wants to try foul shami.

Age Recommendations – great for ages 4 and above .
